CBS News Minnesota : Wood From the Hood reclaims urban wood
A Minneapolis business is taking discarded wood and giving it new life. Not only do they reclaim wood from trees hit by storm damage; they also utilize trees cut down due to disease, construction and other reasons. Rick and Cindy Siewert founded Wood From the Hood in 2008 after they reclaimed wood from an old ash tree that needed to be removed from their yard. Wood From the Hood also offers slabs and home goods in their lumber store including cribbage boards, cutting boards, cocktail smokers and more. On the bottom of each piece is a sticker showing where the wood came from.
